Musical Image: Fomalhaut is an extraordinarily ancient being, who lives in the seas of the Deep Underworlds. Shaped as a large tortoise with a silvery-blue carapace, he – or rather he-she, since Fomalhaut is a hermaphroditic being – is a close friend of Vasoukidass, King of the Nagas.

Once, as young Maryani of the White Eagle was bathing on her own in a large river of life of the Underworlds, she let herself be carried away by the current. She ended up deep, deep down in the southern Tartarean sea, where Fomalhaut found her.

Fomalhaut let Maryani sit on his-her shell and kindly brought her back to Vasoukidass' palace, telling her ancient legends of the Underworlds to keep her company.

After this, the two became good friends.
